Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Impact Study

Stokes Urban Strategies partnered with HR&A Advisors to analyze the economic, fiscal, and community impacts of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, a nonprofit organization that manages a 14-block cultural district in Downtown Pittsburgh. The Trust manages more than 1 million square feet of real estate containing theaters, art galleries, commercial spaces, as well as outdoor visual art, open space, and other public amenities. We created a model to understand the wide-ranging impacts triggered by the Trust’s annual spending on operations as well as spending by visitors to the Trusts theaters, art galleries, festivals, cafes, and shops. Our analysis showed the degree to which the Trust supports both the economy and the budgets of Pittsburgh and the wider region. A summary of our findings can be found here.
